Subaru's Upgraded WRX tS Version Arrives in New Zealand - Expect an Enhanced Rear Wing

Subaru of New Zealand has expanded its WRX sedan lineup with the introduction of a new model named "Spec B". This performance-oriented version offers a sportier drive, featuring a host of upgrades that set it apart from the standard WRX.

The Spec B is a manual-only model, priced at $69,990, the same as the tS automatic. It comes equipped with a prominent wing on its rear and 19-inch alloy wheels in a matte grey finish. The wheels are shod with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres, ensuring optimal performance on the road.

Under the hood, the Spec B retains the same 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer engine as the rest of the WRX range. However, it stands out with its Brembo braking system, featuring gold-painted 6-piston front and 2-piston rear callipers. The front and rear brakes are ventilated and drilled for improved stopping power.

Inside, the Spec B features Subaru's Drive Mode Select system, offering choices between Comfort, Normal, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. The range also includes Recaro sports bucket front seats, providing enhanced comfort and support during high-speed driving.

Safety is not compromised in the pursuit of performance. The Spec B, like the rest of the revised WRX range, includes the Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS). This system monitors driver input and delivers escalated alerts if it detects abnormal driving. Following a controlled stop, EDSS can automatically activate hazard lights and unlock the doors. If necessary, EDSS can safely bring the vehicle to a controlled stop.

The WRX range also boasts a new 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, offering three modes for customisable display. The Spec B, with its focus on performance, is characterised by its dynamic and informative cluster display.

The new-gen Forester introduced the EDSS system, and its inclusion in the WRX range underscores Subaru's commitment to safety and innovation. The Spec B is more than just a performance model; it represents the perfect blend of power, handling, and safety.

With the introduction of the Spec B, the WRX range offers a more diverse lineup, catering to a wider range of driving styles and preferences. Whether you're a casual commuter or a passionate enthusiast, there's a WRX model that suits your needs.
