The retirement age for people with severe disabilities has risen gradually from 63 to 65. By 2026, this phased increase will end, bringing significant changes for those affected. Anyone born after 1963 will now face stricter rules when using a retirement calculator.

The old system allowed some individuals with severe disabilities to retire earlier without financial penalties. From 2026, they must follow the standard retirement age, which will eventually reach 67.

The end of transitional protections means stricter retirement rules for people with severe disabilities born after 1963. Without these protections, early retirement will now result in financial penalties. Those affected must plan carefully to avoid permanent losses in their pension income.
