Hitting the Mat: Absolute Sports Bolsters Wrestling Content with TJR Wrestling and ITR Wrestling Acquisition

Streamline your sports coverage with Absolute Sports, a subsidiary of Nazara Technologies, as they step up their game in the global combat sports content arena. The company recently locked in definitive agreements to acquire TJRWrestling.net and ITRWrestling.com for INR 105 million (US$ 1.25 million) in an all-cash deal.

Amplifying the Mat Matters

Launched in 2009, TJRWrestling has made a name for itself with in-depth analyses of Pay-Per-View events and television shows. Following closely behind is ITRWrestling, hitting the scene in 2020, covering major wrestling news, focusing on organizations like WWE, AEW, and IMPACT. Together, these powerhouse platforms boast around 1.7 million active users monthly and gather 4.6 million views, with the majority hailing from North America. In 2024 alone, the platforms raked in a combined revenue of INR 61 million (US$ 722,000).

The deal sees Sportskeeda Inc acquiring the intellectual property rights of both platforms from Titan Insider Digital, including brand assets, domain names, content, and social media profiles.

U.S. Takeover

This acquisition is the latest move by Absolute Sports to expand its digital media operations in the U.S. market. The country already makes up the bulk of the company's fiscal revenue, accounting for approximately 69.1% of their earnings in 2024. The acquisition underscores Absolute Sports' commitment to establishing a foothold in the rapidly expanding U.S. media market through a meticulous M&A strategy.

Ajay Pratap Singh, the CEO of Absolute Sports, noted, "TJRWrestling and ITRWrestling are among the most respected voices in the wrestling community. This acquisition aligns perfectly with our vision of being the go-to destination for wrestling content worldwide. It also underscores Absolute Sports' determination to expand its presence in the thriving U.S. media market."

Setting the Stage

In a bid to dominate the iGaming scene, Absolute Sports' parent company, Nazara Technologies, has made its mark with key acquisitions. Last year, they secured a 47.7% stake in Moonshine Technology, the controlling entity of PokerBaazi. They also plan to invest US$ 18.07 million in Moonshine via compulsorily convertible preference shares.

Other impressive acquisitions include Pro Football Network, SoapCentral, and Deltia's Gaming in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
