Spain's Fuel Prices Dip as Diesel and Gasoline Decrease
Fuel prices in Spain have taken a dip this week, with both diesel and gasoline showing slight decreases at the pump. This marks the end of a September rally in prices.
Diesel has fallen to €1.411 per liter, a 0.04% decrease, while 95 octane gasoline has dropped to €1.482 per liter, a 0.13% decrease. Despite these decreases, prices remain far from the peak reached in July 2022, when both fuels exceeded €2 per liter.
Filling a 55-liter tank with 95 octane gasoline now costs €81.51, and diesel of the same volume costs €77.60. Notably, diesel has been cheaper than gasoline for 135 consecutive weeks. In comparison, Austria currently offers 95 octane gasoline at around €1.50 per liter, one of the lowest prices in the EU.
Year-to-date, gasoline prices have fallen by 2.82% and diesel by 2.21%. Both fuels are also below the prices seen before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Spain's diesel price of €1.411 per liter is lower than the European average of €1.543 and the eurozone average of €1.568.
While fuel prices in Spain have shown a slight decrease this week, they remain higher than in some other European countries. However, they are lower than the European and eurozone averages, and have fallen significantly compared to the end of 2024.
