South Korea's securities sector booms with record profits in 2025

South Korea's securities industry saw strong growth in 2025, with profits and trading activity rising sharply. A total of 61 domestic firms reported a combined net profit of 9.65 trillion won (around $6.46 billion). The sector also experienced higher stock turnover and increased assets, though debts climbed as well. The combined net profit of securities companies jumped by 39 percent in 2025. Their total assets grew by 25 percent, while commission fee income rose by 28.3 percent. Stock turnover surged by 36 percent, reaching 6,348 trillion won.

Futures firms also performed well, with net profits up by 10.8 percent. Three major futures companies recorded a combined net profit of 88.6 billion won. Meanwhile, the industry's capital base expanded by 11.7 percent, though debts increased by 26.8 percent.

The figures highlight a year of significant financial gains for Korea's securities sector. Higher trading volumes and fee income drove profits, while asset growth outpaced rising debt levels. The industry's overall expansion reflects stronger market activity in 2025.
