Significant Alterations Prepped for U.S. Bank's Altitude Reserve Credit Card
The U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card is set to undergo significant changes as of December 15, 2025. These changes have been confirmed by U.S. Bank and have been communicated to cardholders via letters.
One of the key modifications is the tightening of the card's bonus categories. The unlimited 3x mobile wallet earnings have been restricted, meaning cardholders will now earn 3x points only on the first $5,000 spent each billing cycle, followed by 1x points thereafter.
Another significant change is the restriction of the $325 annual statement credit for eligible travel and dining purchases. Starting from December 15, 2025, this credit will only be available for purchases made through the U.S. Bank Travel Center.
The rewards and redemption structure of the card will also be updated. Currently, points are redeemed toward travel at 1.5 cents per point. However, starting December 15, 2025, points redeemed toward travel will only be worth 1 cent each.
In a positive development, U.S. Bank has confirmed that the Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card will allow point transfers to other airline and hotel loyalty programs from December 15, 2025. However, the bank has not yet publicly disclosed the specific travel partners nor the transfer ratios for these point transfers.
Cardholders are encouraged to redeem their Altitude Reserve points for travel at 1.5 cents per point before December 14, 2025, as the redemption rate will be devalued thereafter.
It's worth noting that the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card offers several benefits, including free Priority Pass Lounge visits, TSA/Global Entry credit, Visa Infinite benefits, and points that never expire.
Unfortunately, these changes may result in the loss of some favourite perks for many cardholders. The card is currently not open to new applicants, although U.S. Bank has not indicated whether this might change.
U.S. Bank is also introducing a new travel portal earning structure, but details about this are yet to be disclosed. Information about these changes can be found on an online page confirmed by U.S. Bank.
The announcement of changes to the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card's rewards structure has generated travel news. Finance analysts are closely monitoring the effects of these changes on the card's business value. For instance, the restriction on the mobile wallet earnings and travel statement credit could potentially impact consumer spending and preferences in the business sector.
