Hospitality sector looks pessimistically at winter season - Saxony-Anhalt’s hospitality faces a split winter: hotels struggle while travel agencies thrive
The hospitality industry in Saxony-Anhalt is preparing for a challenging winter season. Many businesses report declining revenues and lower occupancy rates. Yet, while hotels and restaurants struggle, travel agencies and tour operators are seeing stronger demand.
Nearly half of hospitality businesses in the region have recorded decreasing revenues. Around 50% of hotel operators are also dealing with weaker bookings, leading to reduced occupancy. Rising energy prices and labour costs have added to the financial strain.
The gap between struggling hotels and thriving travel agencies is evident. While many hospitality businesses face declining revenues, tour operators are benefiting from higher demand for holiday bookings. The winter season will likely highlight these contrasting trends across the industry.
