Finanztip: Up to 400 Euro Savings with Special Electricity Tariff for Heat Pumps - Save Up to 406 Euros: Special Electricity Tariffs for Heat Pumps
Households can save significantly on their energy bills by choosing the right electricity tariff. Finanztip recommends using appropriate portals for a comparison to find the best option for individual households. Special tariffs can result in average savings of 83 euros per year, with a maximum potential of 406 euros.
For households with a heat pump, using a special electricity tariff designed for heat pumps can make a kilowatt-hour of heat electricity up to ten cents cheaper than regular household electricity. However, to save money with the special tariff, the heat pump should consume at least 3000 kilowatt-hours per year.
Finanztip studied 15 model households in 2025 and found that those using their own heat pump electricity tariff achieved average annual savings of around 360 euros on their household budget. To use the special tariff, households need their own electricity meter for the heat pump and the pump must be controllable by the network operator.
For low heat pump consumption (less than 3000 kilowatt-hours per year), a flat-rate fee for controllable consumption devices may be more cost-effective, with regional charges between 120 and 200 euros per year on average. However, for higher consumption, the special heat pump electricity tariff can result in substantial savings.
