SAP CEO Klein Earns Over 16 Million Euros - SAP CEO's €16.2M paycheck contrasts with stock market struggles in 2025
SAP's CEO, Christian Klein, remains one of Germany's top-earning executives after taking home €16.2 million in 2025. His pay surged from €7.2 million in 2023, with nearly 90% of last year's earnings coming from performance bonuses. The company itself reported strong financial growth, though its stock has struggled recently.
Klein's compensation has risen sharply over three years. In 2023, he earned around €7.2 million. By 2024, his pay jumped to nearly €19 million—the highest among DAX-listed CEOs. Though slightly lower in 2025, his €16.2 million package still placed him among Germany's best-paid executives.
SAP's financial results for 2025 showed significant gains. Revenue grew 8% to €36.8 billion, driven by strong iCloud software demand. Net profit more than doubled, reaching €7.5 billion. Yet, the company's stock has lost over 40% of its value since early 2025, when it peaked at around €280-283 per share.
The decline followed weaker-than-expected cloud growth. The Current Cloud Backlog rose just 25% (currency-adjusted) in 2025, down from 29% the previous year. Broader concerns about AI's impact on the software sector also weighed on investor confidence.
Despite the stock drop, SAP's executive board still earned over €32.7 million in 2025, though this was slightly less than the €34.6 million paid out in 2024. Analysts note that while short-term challenges persist, the company's long-term outlook remains positive.
At 45, Klein is set to stay among Germany's highest-paid leaders. SAP's 2025 results highlight strong profit and revenue growth, even as its share price faces pressure. The company's focus on iCloud and AI will likely shape its performance in the coming years.
