San Fernando's LCPC Boosts Child Protection in Digital Age

The City of San Fernando's Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) recently held a three-day Capacity Building Activity and third quarterly zoom meeting from October 21 to 23, 2025. The event, facilitated by the Regional Alternative Child Care Office III, focused on adoption, foster care, and related laws, aiming to strengthen the capacity of local implementers in addressing child protection cases in the digital age.

The first day of the activity was dedicated to the LCPC's third Quarterly Meeting. During this session, members discussed preparations for the upcoming National Children's Month celebration in November. Following the zoom meeting, council members participated in an 'Orientation on Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM)' workshop. This was facilitated by Sherryl Santos of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region III. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to address these critical issues in the digital age.

The LCPC's Capacity Building Activity and third quarterly zoom meeting successfully provided a platform for local implementers to enhance their capacity in addressing child protection cases, particularly in the digital realm. The event was praised by Councilor Kaye Pineda, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Women, Children, and Family Affairs, who commended Mayor Vilma Balle Caluag's commitment to championing the welfare and protection of Fernandino children.
