Russia honors 102 years of precinct officers with tales of bravery and sacrifice

Today marks the 102nd anniversary of Russia's precinct police officer service. To celebrate, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev will announce the finalists of the 15th annual People’s Precinct Officer–2025 competition, a collaboration with readers of KR.RU and Komsomolskaya Pravda's website.

Precinct officers, often the first responders to emergencies, have shown exceptional bravery and dedication. Alexander Ryazanov, a police captain in Vologda Region, rescued two men from a burning apartment. Armen Beglaryan, a precinct officer in Bryansk Region, downed an enemy drone using his issued AKS-74 assault rifle. Anatoly Samorukov, a police captain in Khabarovsk Krai, provided first aid to victims of a serious traffic accident. Vener Sultangulov, a senior precinct officer in Bashkortostan’s Dyurtyuli District, apprehended an armed man who had shot and killed two people.

The service, with roots tracing back to the Instructions for the District Supervisor approved on November 17, 1923, now employs over 47,000 officers. They work tirelessly to maintain public order daily.

As Russia commemorates 102 years of its precinct police officer service, the finalists of the People’s Precinct Officer–2025 competition serve as a testament to the bravery and dedication of these officers. Their heroic actions, from rescues to apprehensions, highlight the crucial role they play in ensuring the safety and security of the public.
