Rüsselsheim's L 3040 Road to Get Major Upgrade
Rüsselsheim's L 3040 road between Rüsselsheim and Königstädten is set for a significant upgrade. The state road will be widened to four lanes, with two lanes in each direction separated by a median. The project, costing approximately 3.4 million euros, is primarily funded by the state of Hesse with 3.1 million euros.
Construction work begins on October 7, focusing on the western half in the direction of Königstädten (section one). During this phase, only one direction will be closed at a time. The exit from Eisenstraße to Kurt-Schumacher-Ring will be temporarily closed, and the Königstädten interchange will not serve as an on-ramp to the A 60 motorway. However, it can still be used as an off-ramp.
In the coming weeks, a median crossover approximately 120 meters long will be constructed. To manage heavy traffic, a temporary roundabout will be set up at the intersection of 'Kurt-Schumacher-Ring/Eisenstraße'. Additionally, the western bus stop at the intersection of 'Bensheimer Straße' will be upgraded to be barrier-free. Approximately 1.2 kilometers of the road and its cycle paths will be comprehensively renewed during the construction work.
The second phase of the construction work is scheduled to begin in May 2025. Upon completion, the L 3040 road will offer improved traffic flow and accessibility, with enhanced safety features for both motorists and cyclists. The city of Rüsselsheim anticipates significant benefits from this infrastructure upgrade.
