Banca Transilvania and URBANO Group Partner to Transform Floreşti into Retail and Entertainment Hub

Banca Transilvania, the largest bank in Romania and Southeast Europe, has announced a significant investment in the development of URBANO Shopping & Living, a major shopping park project in Floreşti, Cluj County. The bank will provide over €16 million in financing to support the development, aligning with its strategy to back Romanian companies investing in sustainable development.

URBANO Shopping & Living, a €100 million project by URBANO Group, aims to transform Floreşti into the largest retail and entertainment destination in Transylvania. Spanning 25 hectares, the project targets a nearby population of over 150,000 people and includes diverse facilities such as a DIY store, cash & carry hypermarket, supermarket, furniture and decoration stores, clothing and footwear shops, health and beauty outlets, dining options, office spaces, and event halls.

The development also incorporates environmentally friendly solutions, with more than 5 hectares of green space, efficient energy management, renewable energy options, and charging stations for electric vehicles and bicycles. The project is planned to start operations in 2026 and be completed in two stages.

Alexandru Șerban, co-founder of URBANO Group, believes the new commercial park will have a significant impact on residents in the western area of the Cluj Metropolitan Zone. Cosmin Călin, Senior Executive Director for Large Companies, Structured Finance and Factoring at Banca Transilvania, shares this optimism, stating that such developments can create a broader ecosystem.

Banca Transilvania operates more than 530 branches across 180 localities and has maintained a strong partnership with URBANO Group for over 15 years. This financing is intended to contribute not only to the realization of the shopping park but also to the growth and development of the local community in Cluj County, potentially stimulating related real estate projects and economic ecosystems around the site.

URBANO Group, active since 2016 in Cluj-Napoca and its metropolitan area, develops premium projects in logistics-industrial, residential, and commercial sectors. The company plans to improve accessibility, mobility, and implement environmentally friendly solutions in the local community through the project.

The venues at URBANO Shopping & Living will include a variety of commercial and entertainment options, such as sports equipment stores, electronics stores, toy stores, cafes, confectioneries, drive-in restaurants, and event halls. The development is expected to generate over 500 jobs during construction and afterward.

With this partnership, Banca Transilvania continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and supporting local communities in Romania. URBANO Shopping & Living is set to become a significant addition to the retail landscape in Transylvania, offering residents and visitors a modern, sustainable, and enjoyable shopping and entertainment experience.
