Roland Helle takes helm of Mycare after founder's passing
Roland Helle has taken over ownership of Mycare, a well-known mail-order pharmacy, following the death of its founder, Christian Buse. The transition marks a new chapter for the company, which has been a key player in pharmaceutical services since its launch in 2001.
Helle, a seasoned professional in the industry, now also owns Wittenberg's Robert Koch Pharmacy, under which Mycare operates. His experience spans multiple major firms, including DocMorris and Aponeo, as well as regulatory roles at Gematik.
Mycare was established in 2001 by Christian Buse and his brother Matthias. The business initially focused on mail-order services before expanding in 2008 with the addition of a blister packaging division. After Christian Buse's passing, his widow, Yvonne Buse, stepped in to manage the pharmacy and joined the executive board of the homecare division. She received support from Christine Buse, Christian's mother, during this period.
Roland Helle's career in pharmaceuticals includes leadership positions at companies like DocMorris and Pro Samed. From 2009 to 2013, he headed the pharmaceutical department at Mycare before moving on to other roles. Beyond Mycare, Helle now owns a group of pharmacies in Wittenberg, including the Galenos Pharmacy at the Kaufland Center and the Kreisel Pharmacy in the health centre. Recently, Helle has spoken out about the financial impact of changes to the Pharmacy Operations Ordinance (ApBetrO). He warned that the revised regulations could lead to significantly higher costs for businesses in the sector.
The takeover by Roland Helle ensures continuity for Mycare while bringing fresh leadership to the company. His extensive background in pharmaceuticals and regulatory affairs positions him well to navigate the challenges ahead. The business will continue to operate under the Robert Koch Pharmacy, maintaining its established services in mail-order and blister packaging.
