Rödinghausen's Cycling Infrastructure Gets Comprehensive Check-Up
A comprehensive bike traffic inspection was recently conducted in Rödinghausen, Herford district. Led by Uwe Nolte from the Road Traffic Office, the team evaluated various aspects of the cycling infrastructure. The inspection, held on 12.09.2025, covered a 40-kilometer route starting at the House of Guests. It assessed traffic signs, road conditions, and potential hazards, including height differences and restricted field of vision. The team also checked bollard locations for necessity, adhering to state regulations. The increase in bicycle usage was observed, with a variety of bicycles including pedelecs, e-bikes, and cargo bikes. The inspection spanned municipal, district, federal, and state roads, ensuring a holistic view of the cycling conditions. Cycling is recognised as an effective way to identify defects in the road and path infrastructure. The Herford district's commitment to cycling safety is evident in its provision of training for pedelec and e-bike users, and the availability of bicycle routes in its geoportal. The district's dedication to cycling infrastructure has been recognised on a larger scale. Rödinghausen has been admitted to the 'Working Group of pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly cities, municipalities, and districts in North Rhine-Westphalia e. V.' (AGFS NRW), highlighting its bicycle-friendly conditions. While the date of the last certification is not specified, the recent inspection ensures that the district continues to prioritise cycling safety and infrastructure.
