Rheinmetall Expands Silberhütte Site - Rheinmetall to triple production capacity at Silberhütte with €40M investment

Rheinmetall has announced a major expansion of its Silberhütte production site in Saxony-Anhalt. The defence and technology group plans to invest between €30 and €40 million to boost its pyrotechnics capabilities. CEO Armin Papperger revealed the details on January 23, 2026.

The project aims to at least double—or potentially triple—the site’s current production capacity. Rheinmetall already employs nearly 300 workers at Silberhütte and expects to create at least 100 additional jobs. The state government of Saxony-Anhalt has publicly backed the expansion, though no exact timeline for completion has been confirmed.

The investment will significantly increase Rheinmetall’s manufacturing output in the region. With more jobs and greater production capacity, the Silberhütte site is set to play a larger role in the company’s operations. The state’s support further strengthens the project’s prospects.
