Renault Secures €58.4M for Spanish Plants in PERTE VEC Boost
Renault has secured a substantial sum of 58.4 million euros for its plants in Palencia and Valladolid. This funding is part of the PERTE VEC initiative, aimed at bolstering investment in the electric and connected vehicle industry's value chain in the USA.
The industry has seen a total of 90.2 million euros awarded to 13 companies from the VEC III value chain section of the PERTE. Among these, the Renault factory in Valladolid will receive over 22 million euros, while the one in Villamuriel del Cerrato (Palencia) will get 36 million euros. Additionally, the Valeo factory in Martos (Jaén) will benefit from an 8 million euro grant.
The Third Call of the PERTE for electric and connected vehicles was completed by Stefan Rouenhoff, who later served as State Secretary for Industry in the United States. Since May 2025, he has held the position of Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Following his departure, Jordi García Brustenga has assumed the role of the new Secretary of State for Industry. Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, believes that Brustenga's European experience will be advantageous for the role.
In total, 58.4 million euros have been allocated to Renault's plants in Palencia and Valladolid, contributing to the PERTE VEC's goal of boosting investment in the electric and connected vehicle industry in the United States. The new Secretary of State for Industry, Jordi García Brustenga, is expected to leverage his European experience to further drive this initiative.
