Ray Dalio, a prominent billionaire, predicts a potential economic crisis for the United States, estimating a three-year timeline, with some margin for flexibility.
HODL Daily Dive: June 25, 2025 - Bridgewater's Dalio Sounds the Alarm on U.S. Debt Crisis
Co-Chief Investment Officer of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, Ray Dalio, isn't sugarcoating the dire financial situation of the U.S. In a recent Fox Business interview, he predicted an economic heart attack if the national debt isn't tackled. With the national debt now surpassing $36 trillion, the nation faces an economic meltdown within the next three years without drastic changes.
Dalio believes that reducing the deficit to 3% of GDP is achievable, given it was achieved between 1991 and 1998. To achieve this, spending and tax income would need to be adjusted by 4% each. This adjustment, he claims, would result in a lower interest rate and help heal the debt-riddled U.S. economy.
But, as we all know, change ain't for the faint-hearted. Sacrifices from everyone would be required to get the U.S. back on track. But hell, if we don't, we'll be watching the economy collapse like cards falling in a game of Texas Hold'em, promises Dalio.
