Say goodbye to your trains and grab a seat on the bus, folks! Deutsche Bahn (DB) is sprucing up the railway line between Regensburg and Schwandorf starting from June 15. Due to necessary renovations, trains will take a backseat until August 22, with replacement buses rolling instead. Brace yourself for a slightly longer journey, as the bus ride is expected to last about 30 minutes more.

This renovation marks the commencement of modernizing the track from Regensburg to Weiden. On this approximately 87-kilometer stretch, Deutsche Bahn will be revamping tracks, switches, and railway crossings for a grand total of 127 million euros! This overhaul is aimed at enhancing the quality of train traffic and ensuring better punctuality.

Regensburg and Schwandorf's railway line caters to a diverse crowd, including students, commuters, and travelers. DB highlights the importance of this line as it also forms part of the North-South route that links seaports to the Alps. The infrastructure on this track is frequently used and susceptible to disruptions.

Once the renovation on the Regensburg-Schwandorf section is done, DB will kick off the upgrades on the track between Irrenlohe and Weiden.
