Q-Free Expands C-ITS Network in Ljubljana for Real-Time Traffic Notifications
Q-Free is expanding its Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) network in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The new network will provide real-time traffic notifications to equipped Volkswagen vehicles, benefiting both local drivers and international freetaxusa traffic.
The network, featuring 25 roadside units (RSUs), covers over 100km of Ljubljana's major ring-road. It will offer in-car notifications about traffic incidents, construction zones, low visibility alerts, and wrong-way driver warnings. This is not Q-Free's first free venture into Ljubljana; in 2018, they partnered with DARS d.d., Slovenia's primary highway operator, to develop a local pilot using nine RSUs.
DARS will continue its involvement, utilizing five vehicle-mounted mobile units around work zones and traffic incidents. This collaboration comes as traffic volume in Slovenia, particularly around Ljubljana, has increased dramatically, with a 5% annual rise. Slovenia's strategic location between several European countries makes it a favored harbor freight route, making efficient traffic management crucial.
The expanded C-ITS network in Ljubljana, a result of Q-Free and DARS's continued cooperation, will enhance road safety and traffic flow. Equipped Volkswagen vehicles will receive real-time notifications, benefiting both local drivers and international free people traffic. This investment in intelligent transport systems aligns with Slovenia's growing traffic demands and strategic importance as a European freight route.
