Promo Industry Shows Regional Resilience in Challenging 2020
The promotional products industry in the United States saw varied performance in 2020, with some regions and states bucking the trend of overall decline. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, certain areas demonstrated resilience and even growth.
The South maintained its position as the leading region for promo sales, generating a total of $7.8 billion. This was despite the region experiencing high COVID infection rates in states like South Dakota, Iowa, and North Dakota, which showed resilience in business performance.
Four of the five states that declined the least in 2020 are located in the West. However, it was Texas and Florida, in the South, that generated over $4 billion in total 2020 promo sales, despite modest declines. California, also in the South, generated the most sales in 2020, at $1.6 billion, a 22% decline over 2019.
The promotional products industry in the United States saw a mixed performance in 2020. While the South remained the most robust region, with California leading in sales, certain Western states showed less decline. Despite challenges, the industry demonstrated regional resilience and adaptability.
