In Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) has announced a gradual increase in salaries for its employees since 2019, as part of ongoing state reforms aimed at improving living standards and motivating officials. However, specific details about the percentage increase in salaries from 2019 to 2023, current salary ranges for police officers, and the structure of additional benefits such as housing, bonuses, or pensions specific to MVD employees are not readily available.

According to a recent survey, the majority of Kazakhstanis consider 450,000 tenge per month a decent salary. Interestingly, 99% of respondents believe it's impossible to live on the minimum living wage. The survey results, however, were not specifically related to MVD employees or their salaries.

Minister of Internal Affairs, Erlan Turgumbayev, made these statements during a government hour in the Mazhilis. He highlighted that salaries are low and are being gradually increased. By 2023, salaries for employees are expected to increase by 50% to 90%.

Specific salary increases have been announced for various ranks. For instance, the salary of a lieutenant will increase from 130,000 to 174,000 tenge. Similarly, the salary of a sergeant will increase from 81,000 to 101,000 tenge. Future salaries for operational staff will be increased to 107,000 to 160,000 to 170,000 tenge.

In addition to salary increases, MVD employees also benefit from housing provisions, equivalent to those of military personnel. The right for MVD employees to open housing accounts was granted this year, upon the will of the Head of State. MVD employees open accounts for future housing purchases through "Otbasy Bank" and other second-tier banks. It's worth noting that 72% of MVD employees also benefit from these housing provisions.

For more precise figures and current policies regarding police salaries and benefits in Kazakhstan, it is recommended to consult official publications from the Ministry of Internal Affairs or Government websites, reports from Kazakhstan's National Statistics Bureau, recent government budget documents or legislative acts on public sector remuneration, and specialized news sources or labor reports focusing on Kazakhstan’s civil service compensation.
