Polestar 4 Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror, Redefining SUV Design

Polestar has unveiled the Polestar 4, a new electric SUV, in South Korea. The vehicle, led by product manager Ola Aldensjö, introduces a significant departure from traditional car design: a digital rearview mirror.

The digital rearview mirror, initially showcased in the Polestar Precept, replaces the traditional rearview mirror that has remained largely unchanged for over a century. This innovation is akin to the daring designs of early 20th-century racing cars.

The digital rearview mirror features a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view. It captures real-time images and displays them on the cabin's 8.9-inch HD screen. The mirror can be toggled to function as a traditional mirror when needed, providing visibility of the vehicle's rear. This design offers improved driver visibility, particularly in poor lighting or rainy conditions, enhancing safety and comfort.

In the Polestar 4, the lack of a rear window in the backseat creates a more spacious and luxurious experience. The digital rearview mirror plays a crucial role in maintaining driver visibility without compromising the vehicle's sleek design and backseat comfort.
