Paju to Boost Local Economy with 100,000 Won Grants in 2025
Paju has announced plans to distribute a 100,000 won grant to every resident in early 2025. The payment, made through the city’s local currency Paju Pay, aims to support basic living costs and economic stability. Officials hope the move will stimulate spending and prevent a slowdown in the region’s economy.
The programme will cost 53.1 billion won, funded through a mix of central government transfers, phased budgeting, and careful management of city finances. Paju’s approach mirrors past efforts by the Lee Jae Myung administration, which used consumer coupons to boost domestic spending and revive economic activity.
The grant will provide immediate financial relief to residents while encouraging local spending. If successful, the phased distribution could help sustain economic activity in Paju through 2026. The city’s focus on local currency also aims to keep the benefits within the community.
