Over 300,000 Ford trucks and SUVs are being recalled due to a problem with their brakes.

In a recent development, Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of over 312,000 vehicles from the 2025 model year. The affected vehicles include popular models such as the Lincoln Navigator, Ford Rangers, and Ford Broncos.

The recall is prompted by a defect in the Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module. This issue may lead to an unexpected failure of the power brake assistance during driving, causing a complete loss of power brake assistance until the vehicle is restarted. This defect can also affect the brakes when using Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, increasing the risk of accidents due to longer stopping distances or brakes not functioning as expected.

The recall affects a total of 312,120 vehicles across five vehicle lines: Ford F-150, Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition, Ford Ranger, and Lincoln Navigator. The breakdown of affected units is as follows:

  • Ford F-150: 217,969 vehicles
  • Ford Bronco: 39,913 vehicles
  • Ford Expedition: 26,582 vehicles
  • Ford Ranger: 20,552 vehicles
  • Lincoln Navigator: 7,104 vehicles

The defect was identified in May 2025 following reports of brake boost loss and associated diagnostic trouble codes. Ford estimates that about 1% of these recalled vehicles actually contain the faulty brake booster module.

The fix for this issue involves a software update, which can be delivered over-the-air (OTA) or at a dealer, free of charge. Ford began the recall process officially after internal investigations and warranty claims confirmed the issue, and notification letters to owners were expected to be mailed starting August 25, 2025.

Ford advises vehicle owners to get the recall checked at any of its dealerships. The power brake assist could be lost in the affected SUVs and trucks, potentially causing a crash hazard. It is essential to address this issue to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

In the midst of the recall, Ford Motor Company may need to collaborate with the industry to ensure the timely delivery of vital software updates for the affected vehicles. Failure to address this issue in the finance sector could potentially impact their reputation and customer relations within the automotive and transportation industries.
