Offinso North empowers 36 persons with disabilities through financial aid

The Offinso North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has distributed financial aid to 36 persons with disabilities (PWDs). A total of GH¢16,075 was shared among the beneficiaries, with individual amounts ranging from GH¢1,000 to GH¢3,500. The funds are intended to support education, medical expenses, and small business or vocational activities.

District Chief Executive Ceaser Ofosu Acheampong emphasised that the support was not charity but a step towards social justice and equal opportunity. He urged recipients to use the money wisely for its designated purposes.

Osei Poku Gideon, the Offinso North District Officer of Social Welfare, reaffirmed the assembly's dedication to empowering vulnerable groups. He also assured PWDs of the government's ongoing commitment to inclusivity and the welfare of all citizens.

No records exist on how many individuals with disabilities in other Ashanti Region districts have received similar financial assistance from local assemblies or governments over the past five years.

The funds will help beneficiaries cover essential needs such as education, healthcare, and small-scale business ventures. The assembly's initiative reflects broader efforts to promote equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in the district.
