NjiaPay Secures $2.1M to Revolutionize African Payment Infrastructure
NjiaPay, a new payment performance platform, has secured seed funding led by Newion, a top European B2B SaaS investor. The South African company, founded by industry veterans, aims to simplify payments across Africa's fragmented financial landscape. Its technology was originally developed to boost checkout conversions for Talk360, achieving a 25% increase in key markets.
The platform was created by Jonatan Allback and Roderick Simons, both with extensive backgrounds in global payments. Allback, the CEO, spent 15 years scaling payment operations for companies like Amazon, Netflix, and Uber. Simons, the co-founder, previously served as CTO of Yolt, where he built the technical team from scratch to 70 members over six years.
NjiaPay's core product is a single, provider-agnostic API that functions as a 'payments control tower'. It intelligently routes transactions and provides real-time performance visibility through a unified dashboard. The system was first tested internally at Talk360, where it improved checkout conversion rates by 25%. The recent $2.1 million seed round, led by Newion, highlights growing confidence in African fintech infrastructure. While NjiaPay's current market reach remains unspecified, the company has been mentioned in discussions involving Nigeria, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its approach merges European Open Banking expertise with local insights into Africa's diverse payment challenges.
With fresh funding and a proven track record, NjiaPay is positioned to expand its payment orchestration solutions across Africa. The platform's ability to streamline transactions and enhance visibility could address long-standing inefficiencies in the region's financial systems. The investment from Newion further validates its potential in the evolving fintech sector.
