Nissan's Gravite MPV and Magnite SUV fuel record sales growth in India
Nissan has seen a notable rise in domestic sales, particularly in March, as its market share in India grows. The launch of the Gravite MPV has played a key role in this improvement, with strong early demand pushing the brand's presence forward. Alongside the continued success of the Nissan Magnite, the company is now expanding its footprint in urban markets.
The introduction of the Gravite MPV in late 2025 marked a turning point for Nissan in India. Within its first three months, the model sold over 5,000 units, primarily in major cities like Mumbai and Delhi. This surge helped lift Nissan's market share in the passenger car segment from 0.5% in 2025 to 1.2% by the first quarter of 2026.
The Gravite is one of three planned launches under Nissan's broader strategy to revive its brand in the country. Its rollout has boosted overall sales, complementing the steady performance of the Nissan Magnite. That compact SUV remains a core product, maintaining strong demand and contributing to the company's recovery. Nissan's focus on new models is part of a long-term plan to strengthen its position in India's competitive passenger vehicle market. With the Gravite gaining traction and the Magnite holding its ground, the brand expects these models to drive future growth.
Nissan's recent sales growth reflects the impact of its new launches and ongoing model demand. The Gravite MPV's early success, combined with the Magnite's consistent performance, has already lifted the company's market share. Further launches under its resurgence plan could reinforce this upward trend in the coming months.
