Ninety One designates a new leader for their diversified asset division.
David Knee, a seasoned investment professional with over three decades of experience in managing multi-asset and fixed income portfolios, has been appointed as the head of multi-asset at Investment manager Ninety One, effective at the end of 2025.
Knee joins Ninety One from M&G Investments in London, where he was co-deputy chief investment officer for fixed income. Prior to that, he served as chief investment officer at M&G Investments Southern Africa starting in 2016, managing a broad range of multi-asset and fixed income portfolios across the UK and South Africa.
At Ninety One, Knee will oversee the multi-asset teams globally, focusing on enhancing collaboration across investment teams and strengthening the macro research process that supports the company's strategies. His expertise in asset allocation and fixed income selection is expected to be a key driver for improving investment outcomes, particularly benefiting clients in both South Africa and globally.
Domenico Ferrini, co-chief investment officer at Ninety One, has commented on Knee's appointment, describing him as a "world-class investor and leader." Ferrini highlighted the strategic importance of multi-asset capabilities within Ninety One's investment platform. Knee has expressed enthusiasm for returning to South Africa and continuing to deliver strong long-term portfolio performance through teamwork and client-focused investment management.
Rehana Khan, who has previously worked with Knee at M&G Investments Southern Africa, will also be joining Ninety One. Khan, who joined Ninety One in 2020, has been promoted to co-head of South Africa equity and multi asset, joining Hannes van den Berg in this role. In addition, Khan will join the Global Strategic Managed portfolio management team in an expanded role at Ninety One.
Knee's appointment at Ninety One is not his first return to South Africa. Ninety One has promoted Rehana Khan to co-head of South Africa equity and multi asset, further strengthening the company's investment capabilities in the region. Knee's focus on fostering collaboration across teams and strengthening the macro research process is expected to contribute significantly to Ninety One's ongoing success in delivering excellent client outcomes.
