Nexus Promotes Eamonn Long to the Position of Chief Underwriting Officer for Alternative Risk Transfer
Nexus Underwriting, a subsidiary of Brown & Brown, has announced the appointment of Eamonn Long as the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Alternative Risk Transfer (ART). With nearly 18 years of experience in the financial services and insurance sector, Long brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.
Long's career began at the derivatives trading units of Barclays and Nomura. He later moved into the insurance sector, spending time at Allianz in both London and New York. At Allianz, he served as Managing Director in ART for seven years. Before joining Nexus, he held the position of Head of London Market Solutions at SCOR's Alternative Solutions unit.
In his new role, Long will be responsible for supporting and expanding Nexus's ART business. He will translate complex risk transfer structures into successful transactions and work closely with capacity providers and producing brokers to design efficient and attractive ART solutions for mutual customers.
Nexus launched its ART business line in December 2024, focusing on multi-year structured re/insurance solutions in property, liability, and multi-line insurance. The launch was led by Christof Bentele, President of Nexus Specialty Casualty.
Christof Bentele expressed pleasure at Long's appointment, stating, "Eamonn's extensive experience in the ART market will be a valuable asset to our team as we continue to grow our business. I am confident that under his leadership, we will be able to offer even more sophisticated, bespoke risk transfer solutions to our clients."
Long is excited to join Nexus Underwriting at a dynamic time in its ART growth journey. He holds a PhD in mathematics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA).
Nexus Underwriting is uniquely positioned to offer sophisticated, bespoke risk transfer solutions. With Long's appointment, the company aims to elevate its capabilities in the ART sector.
