Newscast: Kramer Asia IP co-head from HSF shifts to Freshfields as partner in Singapore
Freshfields Bolsters IP and TM Expertise with the Arrival of Harry Evans
Global law firm Freshfields has strengthened its intellectual property (IP) and technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) capabilities in Singapore by hiring Harry Evans as a partner. Evans joins Freshfields from Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, where he served as co-head of the Asia IP/Commercial team.
Evans brings over 15 years of experience advising clients on technology, intellectual property, and commercial matters. He started his career at Linklaters in London before moving to Allens in Australia. In 2018, he joined Herbert Smith Freehills as a senior associate.
Matthew O'Callaghan, Freshfields' Asia regional managing partner, expressed his excitement about Evans joining the firm. He highlighted the importance of Evans' role in advising on IP and technology matters in the life sciences sector. Nicholas Lingard, Singapore managing partner, stated that Evans' extensive experience in IP and TMT will be a huge asset to Freshfields' clients in Singapore and beyond.
At Freshfields, Evans will collaborate with various teams on high-stakes mandates involving intellectual capital and cutting-edge technology. His experience includes advising on IP and technology aspects of corporate transactions and commercial and patent disputes in the life sciences sector.
Evans' deep expertise and proven leadership in the life sciences sector are valuable additions to Freshfields' strategic investment in Southeast Asia and other high-growth industries. The tech and life sciences sectors in Asia are significant areas of investment and growth for Freshfields' clients.
With Evans' arrival, Freshfields now has nine partners in Singapore. He will work closely with Richard Bird, head of Freshfields' IP/data practice group in Asia. Evans' expertise in complex commercial arrangements, particularly in the life sciences and tech sectors, will help Freshfields deliver more effective solutions for clients.
Evans will collaborate with clients in the technology and intellectual property sectors through his work at Freshfields, focusing on related projects of particular interest in Singapore and the Asia Pacific legal markets. However, it is not mentioned that Evans' arrival at Freshfields is one of the first Asia partners to exit following the merger between HSF and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.
The statement from Matthew O'Callaghan emphasizes the importance of Harry Evans' role in advancing Freshfields' position in the IP and technology landscape. Nicholas Lingard's statement highlights Evans' experience in IP and TMT as a key asset to Freshfields' clients. Freshfields' strategic investment in these areas is expected to further strengthen its position in the competitive legal market in Asia.
