New San Antonio Food Bank Opens to Support Struggling Military Families

Soldiers' Angels has opened a new food bank in San Antonio, Texas, to help military families struggling with rising costs. The charity launched the facility on 16 January 2026 as part of its growing Food First initiative. With food and housing expenses climbing, the need for support has never been greater.

The organisation has long provided aid to service members and their families. In 2024 alone, it assisted 1.7 million people. Now, demand has surged further as living costs continue to rise.

The Food First programme plays a key role in easing financial pressure on military households. Soldiers' Angels relies on volunteers, corporate donations, and individual contributions for 75 percent of its budget. It receives no government funding.

Beyond the new San Antonio location, the charity plans to open more food banks in Detroit, Charlotte, and Atlanta. A second site in San Antonio is also in development. Demand for help typically peaks during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

By expanding its network, Soldiers' Angels aims to reach even more families facing hardship. The new facilities will provide essential supplies to those who need them most.

The charity's latest food bank in San Antonio marks another step in its mission to support military families. With additional locations planned, more households will gain access to vital food assistance. The Food First initiative remains a lifeline as costs keep rising.
