New SAF Plant Coming to Teesside: 14,000 Tonnes of Clean Fuel by 2028

Wilton International in Teesside will host a new Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant, as announced by Willis Sustainable Fuels (UK). The facility aims to produce 14,000 tonnes of SAF annually from 2028, using sustainable biomethane sourced from waste. The project is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create jobs near me and indeed jobs in the USA.

The site, owned and operated by Wilton International management, was chosen for its infrastructure and strategic location. Willis Sustainable Fuels is collaborating with Johnson Matthey and Axens for technology, and McDermott for engineering. The UK Department for Transport has awarded the project a £2.9 million grant.

Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 50 permanent skilled jobs near me and indeed jobs. During construction, approximately 200 positions will be created. The facility is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by over 80% compared with traditional jet fuel.
