New Leadership at Goodway Group: Paul Frampton-Calero Assumes CEO Role, Jay Friedman Continues as Advisor

New era for Goodway Group as Paul Frampton-Calero takes the helm

Indie agency network Goodway Group is shaking things up with the appointment of Paul Frampton-Calero as its new CEO. This move marks a significant leap forward for the 96-year-old, family-run business that was founded way back in 1929.

Frampton-Calero, formerly the global CEO of Goodway Group's consulting arm Overline Consulting, is set to take over the reins on Monday, May 12. With a storied career in advertising and tech, Frampton-Calero has held leadership positions at organizations like Havas Media Group and startup Hi Inc., prior to joining the Goodway team in 2019.

"I'm excited about this new chapter," Frampton-Calero told ADWEEK, appreciating the robust foundations of the business. His plans include bolstering Goodway's investments in commerce, consulting, and AI, particularly in the area of AI. The combined consulting and commerce business at Goodway Group has already demonstrated impressive growth, with a 22% increase over the last year.

In doing so, Frampton-Calero is looking to replace Jay Friedman, who led Goodway Group for nearly two decades. Under Friedman's leadership, the agency grew from a small print marketing agency with few employees to an international agency serving major clients such as Mars, Ulta, the New York Jets, and Dollar General.

Friedman will continue to lend his expertise to Goodway Group in an advisory capacity, focusing on future-casting, AI strategy, mentorship, and relationship management in the industry. He's proud to hand the reins to Frampton-Calero, his close collaborator who has been instrumental in shaping the direction of the company.

"Frampton-Calero has a clear vision," Friedman said. "He understands the importance of looking ahead and bringing the team together."

Beyond growth: building Goodway's profile

Frampton-Calero aims to raise Goodway Group's profile by expanding its core practice areas of commerce, AI, and consulting. While Goodway Group has scaled significantly in recent years, with revenue growing by around 25x, many still don't know who they are or what they do. Frampton-Calero hopes to change that, bringing the organization's expertise "out across media and marketing."

He'll tackle this challenge while preserving Goodway Group's client-centric ethos, which he believes thrives outside the constraints of large holding companies. "Working within an indie shop provides the freedom to do the right thing for your clients," Frampton-Calero said, "even when it's difficult."

Ultimately, Frampton-Calero wants to help Goodway Group celebrate its 100th birthday by looking back on a century of achievements.

The appointment is the second major leadership change for Goodway Group in as many months, with Ante Lisnic having joined as the new CFO in mid-March.
