NC Man's Spooky Skeleton Display Raises $1M for St. Jude, Aims for Another in October
Jeff Robertson, a resident of Holly Springs, North Carolina, has been transforming his home into a spooktacular spectacle for a cause. His annual skeleton display, which began in 2020, has raised over $1 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year's display, featuring a 25-foot phantom pirate ship, aims to raise another $1 million in half the time.
Robertson started this tradition to bring joy to his children during the pandemic. In 2020, his first year, the family raised over $8,000 for St. Jude. The display has since grown in scale and impact. The 2022 display includes a massive pirate ship that seems to have crashed through the house, drawing visitors from far and wide.
Robertson's neighborhood eagerly awaits his annual display. Many people stop by each day in October to see the latest creation. To spread the fundraising idea nationwide, Robertson created a Google group called Skeletons for St. Jude. This group now has over 5,000 members and over 1,000 partner homes across the country.
The Robertson family's goal this year is ambitious but achievable. With the support of their community and the Google group, they aim to raise another $1 million for St. Jude in just one month. Their dedication to this cause, started as a simple act to make their children smile, has grown into a nationwide movement.
