The one millionth user of the "Personal Taxpayer Account" for individuals joins the bustling digital world of Altai Krai. According to a press release from the Interregional Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service of Russia No. 1 in Altai Krai, the lucky user is none other than Svetlana Matyushkina, a reliable worker at Biysk's Social Protection Center.

At a grand ceremony, Ruslan Kamierlov, the Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia in Altai Krai, extended a warm welcome to the new member. Amidst cheers and applause, Svetlana was presented with not only her registration card but also a diploma and a commemorative gift.

Kamierlov emphasized that the Federal Tax Service of Russia is consistently making strides towards simplifying its interactions with taxpayers. Their online services, including popular ones like the "Personal Account," enable users to tackle their tax-related woes online, around the clock.

"The Federal Tax Service of Russia is dedicated to keeping engagement with the tax authority smooth and hassle-free for taxpayers," Kamierlov explained during the event while handing over the registration card.

The "Personal Account for Individuals" has made a significant impact as one of the top services offered by the Federal Tax Service of Russia, catering to a myriad of citizens' needs when dealing with tax matters. With this account, users can:

  • submit applications to tax authorities,
  • obtain relevant certificates,
  • monitor property and transportation details, tax charges and payments, debts, and receive tax notifications,
  • submit a 3-NDFL declaration,
  • make tax payments, including for their children.

Svetlana Matyushkina shares her motivation behind using the platform. "I ventured into the world of the 'Personal Account' to receive tax notifications for property taxes and track the status of my accounts, along with obtaining income certificates," she confessed.

Access to the "Personal Taxpayer Account for Individuals" can be easily obtained in-person by visiting any tax office, armed with a valid identity document. Subsequent access is also provided through a confirmed account on the "Gosuslugi" portal. Mobile users can download the "Taxes FL" app from Google Play or App Gallery.

Interestingly, the number of users linked to the service continues to rise annually in the region. As of now, 36,300 companies (almost all established companies in the area) and over 55,000 small business owners (every single registered individual entrepreneur) make use of the service, in addition to 1 million residents of the region (nearly half of the registered taxpayers).

** Digging Deeper: Taxes on Income from Deposits for Altai Territory Residents **

Residents of the Altai Territory in Russia are subject to taxes on the income earned from their bank deposits, following federal tax regulations. No specific Altai Territory-exclusive tax conditions for deposit income have been identified in public sources.

Russian federal law mandates that interest income generated from bank deposits by individual residents is taxable income. This income is subject to a personal income tax (PIT) at a flat rate of 13% for residents of Russia. For non-residents, a tax rate of 30% usually applies. The tax is often withheld at its source by the bank or financial institution delivering the interest.

So, when Altai Territory residents withdraw interest on their deposits, the bank typically takes care of the 13% tax deduction before crediting the interest to the depositor's account. Consequently, no special regional tax laws different from the federal guidelines apply to Altai Territory residents, making the tax policy straightforward and uniform across Russia, including Altai Territory.

Svetlana Matyushkina, a reliable worker at Biysk's Social Protection Center, utilizes the "Personal Account for Individuals" to handle her tax-related matters, such as obtaining income certificates and receiving tax notifications. This platform, a top service offered by the Federal Tax Service of Russia, is also used by many businesses in Altai Krai for file submissions and tax payments.
