In a significant move to bolster bilateral ties, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man recently visited Morocco, marking a promising stage in the relationship between the two nations. This visit follows the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives' visit for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) Executive Committee's meeting in Cần Thơ earlier this year [1].

During the meeting in Rabat, both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening business connections, joint production, and export cooperation to third markets. Priority sectors identified for collaboration include agricultural processing, fertilizer manufacturing, and renewable energy [2].

NA Chairman Man thanked the Moroccan side for its support and urged continued efforts to provide favorable legal conditions for Vietnamese citizens and people of Vietnamese origin in Morocco. He also proposed enhanced cooperation to boost business-to-business engagement and requested favorable visa policies for Vietnamese citizens [1].

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch conveyed warm greetings from King Mohammed VI to Chairman Man and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders. He highlighted Vietnam's remarkable success in the socio-economic strategy and emphasized infrastructure development in cities like Casablanca and Marrakech for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, positioning it as a growth driver and investment opportunity for countries like Vietnam [1].

The visit comes at a time when Morocco and Vietnam are looking forward to the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year. Both countries are working to improve the legal framework to facilitate investment and trade by reviewing and signing bilateral agreements. There is particular encouragement to enhance public-private partnerships (PPP) and address barriers to trade and investment [4].

The cooperation potential extends beyond trade into innovative fields such as green hydrogen, offshore wind power, carbon processing, metallurgy, fertilizers, and the halal industry. Both sides have a shared interest in green transition sectors and sustainable development, reinforced by memoranda signed in recent years [1].

Local level and educational ties are also being strengthened. There are ongoing city-level partnerships, such as the cooperation agreement between Da Nang and Tangier, with efforts to establish twinning relations between other cities. Morocco also supports educational exchanges through scholarships to Vietnamese students and past training support in journalism and diplomacy [1].

The Moroccan PM affirmed plans to visit Vietnam soon, accompanied by a business delegation, to further align economic cooperation with political ties and to boost market access for Vietnamese exports like agricultural products, leather, textiles, and seafood [2][4].

While current trade and investment volumes are growing, they remain modest relative to the potential between Vietnam and Morocco. This visit and the subsequent discussions mark a new phase of multidimensional partnership between the two nations [1][2][3][4].
