Updated Blast: Get Ready to Splash Again at Fun Pool "Miramar" Starting Mid-June, After Fire Delays

Miramar Swimming Pool to Reopen Mid-June Post-Fire Restoration - Miramar's delay in opening scheduled for mid-June.

If you've been missing the good times at Fun Pool "Miramar" in Weinheim, Rhein-Neckar District, mark your calendars – the hotly-anticipated reopening is just around the corner, tentatively scheduled for June 16. However, the road to recovery has been a bumpy one, with initial plans for a May launch and even an April return now discarded.

The fiery setback that occurred in December has left quite a bill – a whopping 20 million euros, more than double the initial estimate. The blaze took its toll on parts of the leisure pool and saltwater spa, but fear not, passionate pool-goers! The leisure pool and sauna area will be back in action, and the spa area will grace us with its presence once more come December. Some parts of the original building, including the foundation, will be integrated in the reconstruction process.

Lara Steinhart, Managing Director of Fun Pool "Miramar," elaborated on the extended reopening timeline, explaining that the damage was far more extensive than first believed. "Initially, we thought we could reopen much sooner, but the changing rooms and restrooms were badly hit, making the April reopening impossible."

The revised damage estimate, Steinhart reveals, is anything but trivial. "It's significantly more than 20 million euros." Not only will the pool's roof need a complete overhaul, but an extra 1.8 million euros will be invested in renovating the slide tower.

Sadly, this unexpected downtime resulted in a hefty 9 million euros in lost revenue, placing approximately 200 employees on temporary leave. Rest assured, however, that no one has lost their jobs, with all employees remaining with the company for the long haul. The pool welcomes an estimated 700,000 visitors each year, offering a diverse range of attractions including a sauna area, leisure pool with numerous slides, and an outdoor zone with a sandy beach by the lake. No price hike is planned to mark the triumphant return.
