Microsoft's Copilot Drives Voice Input Growth and Boosts Ad Effectiveness
Microsoft's Copilot conversational AI platform has seen remarkable growth and success in its voice input usage and advertising effectiveness. A recent study spanning November 2024 to May 2025 reveals significant improvements in user engagement, satisfaction, and purchasing behaviour.
Voice input usage has surged across Microsoft's ecosystem, with Copilot usage in PC search and Windows increasing by 1.64 times and the mobile Copilot app experiencing a 6-fold growth in users leveraging voice commands daily. Meanwhile, Copilot advertisements demonstrate substantially lower quick back rates across all major advertisement formats, suggesting higher relevance and user satisfaction with Copilot's advertising placements.
Copilot's impact on advertising is evident. Microsoft Advertising published research on August 6, 2025, showing that Copilot generates 73% higher click-through rates and 16% stronger conversion rates compared to traditional search advertising. Furthermore, customer journeys through Copilot are 33% shorter than conventional search paths, indicating fewer steps between initial discovery and final conversion.
The study highlights Copilot's growing user base, with daily active users increasing consistently from November 2024 to May 2025, and user satisfaction rising by 2% monthly throughout 2025. In purchase-leading journeys, Copilot interaction resulted in 53% more purchases within 30 minutes compared to traditional search methods, reaching 194% when user intent involved shopping. With 33% of users aged 18 to 29 and 20% reporting annual incomes exceeding $100,000, Copilot's potential in reshaping digital advertising effectiveness is substantial.
