Merck’s $9.2B deal leads a wave of high-stakes acquisitions and stock shifts

Pharmaceutical giant Merck has made a significant acquisition, while Papa John's takeover rumours have been dismissed, leading to a stock drop. Meanwhile, several other notable deals and acquisitions have been announced across various sectors.

Merck, known as MSD outside the US and Canada, has acquired Cidara Therapeutics through its purchase of Viatris. The deal is valued at approximately $9.2 billion. In another major acquisition, Rumble (RUM) will acquire Northern Data (OTC:NDTAF) in an all-stock deal worth about $767 million. ABN AMRO Bank N.V. (OTCPK:AAVMY) (OTC:ABMRF) is set to acquire NIBC Bank for around €960 million. TreeHouse Foods (THS) will be acquired by European buyout firm Investindustrial in an all-cash transaction for $2.9 billion. Meanwhile, Papa John's (PZZA) has refuted takeover speculation, causing its stock to drop by 6.5%. Topgolf Callaway Brands (MODG) is in discussions to sell its Topgolf unit to private equity firm Leonard Green. Parker Hannifin (PH) will acquire Filtration Group for $9.25 billion on a cash-free, debt-free basis. Day One Biopharmaceuticals (DAWN) has agreed to merge with Mersana Therapeutics (MRSN) in a deal valued up to $285 million. Centerspace (CSR) is exploring potential options, including a sale. Lastly, Revvity (RVTY) has acquired ACD/Labs in a deal announced on Monday.

These acquisitions and mergers highlight the ongoing activity in the global business landscape, with significant deals happening across the pharmaceutical, technology, finance, and consumer goods sectors.
