Mercedes-Benz Unveils Electric Intercity Bus eIntouro at Busworld Europe
Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil the series-production version of its electric intercity bus, the eIntouro, at Busworld Europe in Brussels. This reveal comes as part of Daimler Buses' commitment to sustainable tourism and zero-emission public transport, with a pilot project already underway in Cologne.
The eIntouro, when launched, will offer customers a choice of one or two LFP batteries, providing a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. This range, coupled with the bus's electric powertrain, makes it an attractive option for long-distance, zero-emission travel.
In Cologne, a pilot project is supporting sustainable tourism by enabling zero-emission bus travel. Daimler Buses will install four public fast-charging points for electric buses and coaches, with construction set to begin in the second quarter of 2025. This phased plan aims to complete the project around mid-2025, integrating electric buses into the city's fleet.
Looking ahead, Daimler Buses plans to introduce battery-electric coaches by 2030, followed by fuel cell coaches. At Busworld Europe, visitors can expect to see the new NMC4 battery generation in the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric city bus.
The reveal of the eIntouro at Busworld Europe signals Daimler Buses' commitment to expanding its electric bus portfolio. With the Cologne pilot project and planned charging infrastructure, the company is actively supporting the transition to zero-emission public transport. The upcoming introduction of battery-electric coaches and the showcase of the new NMC4 battery generation further cement Daimler Buses' leadership in sustainable mobility.
