Marriott Bonvoy's free breakfast rules depend on brand, status and location

Marriott Bonvoy’s free breakfast policy varies widely across its brands and regions. Some hotels offer it to all guests, while others restrict it to elite members or exclude it entirely. The rules also change depending on whether a property is a hotel or a resort. Six Marriott brands provide free breakfast to every guest. These include City Express (in the U.S. and Canada), Element, Fairfield, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, and TownePlace Suites. Guests at these properties can expect the benefit regardless of loyalty status.

For Platinum Elite members, breakfast options expand further. They can choose daily restaurant breakfast as their welcome gift at many brands, covering themselves and one guest. Alternatively, they gain complimentary lounge access at properties with a club, executive, or M Club lounge. This applies to brands like Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin. However, the benefit depends on whether the property is classified as a hotel or a resort. Some brands, such as Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy, Design Hotels, and EDITION, do not offer any breakfast perk at all. Regional differences also play a role, with policies varying between the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

The breakfast benefit at Marriott remains inconsistent, tied to elite status, brand selection, and property type. Guests must check their specific hotel’s policy before expecting free meals. The rules differ even within the same loyalty tier across regions.
