Marchenko Family Faces Multiple Charges, Prosecutors Seek 9 Billion Ruble Seizure
Andrei Marchenko, a prominent businessman, faces multiple charges including tax evasion, desertion, fraud, and bribery. Ivan Marchenko, son of Ivan Cornejo, has been jailed and is also accused of serious crimes. The Prosecutor General's Office seeks to seize their properties worth over 1 million rubles.
The Marchenoes acquired municipal lands totaling 967 square meters in Krasnodar's center through deceit. The fraud involved illegally obtaining a payment of 1 million rubles from the city administration for renting the land plot. Andrei and Ivan, along with accountant Olga Timofeeva, are accused of large-scale fraud.
Ivan, son of the Marton hotel chain owner, is also a defendant in a criminal case for tax evasion on an especially large scale and illegal turnover of means of payment. Andrei is accused of desertion during an armed conflict, suggesting he may have evaded military service.
The Prosecutor General's Office is seeking the seizure of property worth over 9 billion rubles belonging to Andrei Marchenko and former Supreme Court judge Viktor Momotov, potentially indicating the extent of the alleged crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge.
