Manufacturer Bellmer shifts part of its production facilities
In a significant development, machine-building company Bellmer has decided to construct a new plant in Enzberg, Mühlacker, instead of relocating its entire production to the Reisersweg industrial area in Niefern-Öschelbronn.
The decision to build a third plant in Enzberg comes as a strategic move to expand Bellmer's production capacity without disrupting its existing operations. This approach ensures operational continuity, minimizing downtime and risks associated with moving entire production lines.
Enzberg, Mühlacker, offers logistical and infrastructural advantages suitable for the new plant's specific needs, making it a more attractive location compared to the Reisersweg industrial area. Cost and risk management also play a crucial role in this decision, as constructing an additional plant can be more cost-efficient and operationally safer than a full relocation.
Despite the decision to build a new plant in Enzberg, Bellmer has no plans to abandon its roots in Niefern. The company's headquarters will remain in Niefern, and the other two plants in Niefern and Niefern-Oberhof will continue operations for the time being. Approximately 20 to 30 of the 300 employees in Niefern will be transferred to Enzberg, with the remaining staff maintaining their roles at the existing plants.
The planned plant in Enzberg will focus on large-scale assemblies, a shift that aligns with Bellmer's growth strategy. The company has been in talks with the community of Niefern-Öschelbronn for four to five years, and the recent discussions with the city of Mühlacker have been initiated within the past two to three months.
Martin Kollmar, the managing partner of Bellmer, expressed his regret over the unclear development timeline of the Reisersweg industrial area in Niefern-Öschelbronn. However, he reiterated that the relocation of Bellmer's entire production to the future Niefern industrial area along the motorway remains on hold for now.
This news marks an exciting development for Bellmer and the communities of Niefern-Öschelbronn and Mühlacker. The construction of the new plant in Enzberg is expected to create new job opportunities and boost the local economy.
