Major Raid 'Night Out' Nets 7 Suspected Cases of Social Insurance Fraud

In a major operation dubbed 'Night Out', the Financial Control of Undeclared Work (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Regensburg has raided 16 premises, including bars, discos, and restaurants, across the Upper Palatinate region and Austria. The operation targeted suspected social security fraud involving undeclared or late registration of employees.

Over 50 officers were involved in the checks, focusing on employee registration with social security, social benefit fraud, and minimum wage payment. In Ingolstadt, some employees attempted to flee during the inspections. Meanwhile, the Main Customs Office Augsburg conducted a local inspection day in the hospitality and accommodation industry last Tuesday, targeting 25 businesses and questioning 60 people about their employment relationships.

Seven cases require further investigation. Three are suspected of illegal employment of foreigners, while four involve withheld social security contributions. The inspections aimed to combat illegal work and illegal employment in the region.

The 'Night Out' operation and the local inspection day have led to the discovery of several suspected cases of social security fraud and illegal employment. Further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the withheld contributions and to ensure compliance with employment laws.
