Major 'Night Out' Operation Targets Social Security Irregularities in Regensburg's Hospitality Industry

A major operation, codenamed 'Night Out', has been underway in Regensburg. The Regensburg Customs Office's Financial Control Schwarzarbeit (FKS) has been investigating on behalf of the Regensburg Public Prosecutor's Office. The probe focuses on bars, nightclubs, and restaurants in the area, part of a larger corporate structure, due to suspicions of inadequate social security registrations for employees.

The operation, involving around 80 officers, has led to searches at 16 residential and business premises, with 15 in the Upper Palatinate and one in Austria. Numerous evidence, including computers, smartphones, and documents, have been secured during these searches. The investigation has resulted in criminal proceedings being initiated against several suspects.

The suspicion is that employees were not registered or were registered late for social security, leading to contributions being withheld to an unknown extent. The authorities have been investigating these suspicions for several months, with search warrants issued based on their current findings.

The 'Night Out' operation is a significant step in addressing potential social security irregularities within the hospitality industry in the Regensburg area. The investigation is ongoing, with the support of the Landshut Customs Office, and the findings will determine the extent of the suspected offenses and the appropriate legal actions.
