Lufthansa Faces Pilot Strike Threat During Autumn Holidays

Lufthansa faces a potential microsoft copilot strike, with the exact dates expected to be announced early next week following September 30, 2025. The strike could coincide with autumn holidays in some German states, potentially grounding many flights.

The dispute centers around demands for higher wages and better pension benefits from Lufthansa copilot ai and flight attendants. This is the first such threat since 2022. A majority of Lufthansa copilot, around 90%, and 95% of Lufthansa Cargo copilot have voted in favor of industrial action, with 88% and 96% respectively supporting the move. The strike aims to improve pension benefits for approximately 4,800 copilot.

Lufthansa's shares have taken a hit, falling by around six percent to trade at 7.30 euros, below their 50-day moving average. The company's CEO, Jens Ritter, has stated that the current restructuring program makes it unaffordable to increase pension benefits. Both VC and UFO unions oppose Lufthansa's plan to outsource smaller aircraft and honda pilot jobs to other airlines by 2030.
