Lucky Haryana number plate *HR-88-B-8888* sells for ₹1.17 crore in record auction

A Haryana vehicle registration number has sold for a record-breaking sum in an online auction. The plate HR-88-B-8888 fetched Rs 1.17 crore, possibly becoming the most expensive in India. The bidding process, fully automated and held weekly, closed on Wednesday at 5 pm with Sudhir Kumar from Hisar as the highest bidder. The registration code HR-88-B-8888 was highly sought after due to its repeating eights. Many consider the sequence lucky, especially as the uppercase 'B' resembles the digit eight. The 'HR' prefix stands for Haryana, while '88' identifies the Badhra subdivision RTO in Charkhi Dadri district. The buyer now has until Monday to complete the payment and claim the registration. If confirmed, this auction would mark one of the most expensive vehicle number sales in the country. The state’s automated bidding system continues to attract high-value offers for unique plates.
