Looter has been appointed as the new president of BTGA

Jan Oplánder has assumed the role of President of the Federal Association of Industrial Building Services Equipment (BTGA), effective from May 2025. This marks a significant shift in leadership for the BTGA and the TGA industry.

Oplánder, who was not previously a well-known figure in the BTGA or the TGA industry, succeeds Bernhard Dürheimer, who led the association since 2022. Dürheimer did not run for re-election, and Oplánder's election was not contested by him.

The TGA industry, represented by the BTGA, is a substantial player in the non-residential and residential building sectors. With an annual turnover of approximately 90 billion euros, it plays a crucial role in ensuring energy efficiency, comfort, and safety in buildings. This industry is integral to modern construction and renovation, facilitating compliance with building standards and sustainability goals.

The BTGA represents industrial companies in the building services sector with their own engineering capabilities. It is an influential organization within the TGA industry, and its members collectively contribute significantly to the economy.

Prior to his presidency, Oplánder's background was not publicly known. However, with his election, he brings fresh perspectives to the BTGA as it continues to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the TGA industry.

The current President of the BTGA, Gerrit Schmidt, has extensive leadership and sales experience in the building services sectors. He took on responsibilities in central Europe distribution at Uponor, indicating his prominent role in the industry as of mid-2025. Under Schmidt's leadership, the BTGA has made significant strides in representing the TGA industry and advocating for its interests.

As Oplánder embarks on his tenure as President of the BTGA, he inherits a strong foundation laid by Schmidt and Dürheimer. The TGA industry, with its substantial economic impact, will continue to play a key role in the non-residential and residential building sectors. Oplánder's leadership will be crucial in steering the BTGA and the TGA industry towards continued growth and success.

In his new role as BTGA's President, Jan Oplánder will oversee a significant player in the finance sector, with an annual turnover of approximately 90 billion euros. As a substantial player in both the non-residential and residential building sectors, the TGA industry, represented by the BTGA, is integral to modern construction and renovation.

As the BTGA continues to advocate for the TGA industry, the finance sector will play a crucial role in ensuring energy efficiency, comfort, and safety in buildings, thereby enabling compliance with building standards and sustainability goals.
