Lisbon’s water bills rise by 17 cents in 2026 due to inflation
EPAL, the company supplying water to Lisbon, has updated its tariffs for 2026. The changes follow projections from the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices and were approved by ERSAR. Most residential customers will see a small increase from January 1 next year.
The new tariffs will apply to 85% of EPAL’s residential customers in Lisbon. Their monthly bills will rise by 17 cents starting on 1 January 2026. This adjustment aligns with inflation forecasts and regulatory approvals.
EPAL also offers support for households facing financial difficulties. Low-income customers can access the Social Water Tariff, which provides discounts of up to 93%. Larger families, with five or more members, qualify for the Family Tariff to ease their water costs.
The updated pricing reflects regulatory guidelines and inflation trends. Customers receiving the standard residential rate will pay slightly more each month. Meanwhile, discounted tariffs remain available for eligible households.
